My Portfolio
- Jacob Bos
The biography of this versatile artist (1963) covers the whole
northern Netherlands, for he was born in Friesland and lives in
Drenthe, has its headquarters in the city Hoogeveen.
Movement can be seen as a key language in the form of Bos. Using very
simple strips of glass, he convincingly brings motion in display.
"Glass is a wonderful material that many people often do not know the
fantastic qualities. It is a very hard material, but also vulnerable.
It seems stiff and yet you can create any form you want. Glass offers
many possibilities. For the sculptures that I make, I use the glass
bonding technique: all my images are composed of tiny particles
construction, glass strips, pieces, sometimes even smaller than one
square centimeter. By welding it with polyester resin or a special UV
glue they form a whole. This basic technique is very simple, but the
execution requires a lot: each strip must be cut and polished. Only
then I can weld them together. Each weld must dry for thirty seconds
